Ability to apply an item discount or discount menu item
Min Kim
Example:
- The site is $10K but we are lowing it by 50%. - The corkage is $20, but we are 100% comping it
We like the client to see what the item costs and also the itemized discounts.

Seana Horrobin would like discounts on line items, configurable on the proposal menu item sidebar. People like to see the specifics, and they typically discount items or the room rental rather than the overall bill.

Our venue would like it to be a percentage that can be applied on a line item and allowed for any line item (menu item)

Ditto to this - I need to be able to discount a menu item specifically, not always the full total.

Question for those of you who would like discount to be a percentage, would you like the discount percentage to be applied to the subtotal or the grand total (after taxes & fees are applied)?
A
Amanda Cartin
Anna Western The discount before tax & fees but it would be helpful if the tax would adjust to the new price.

Anna Western - We should be allowed to make that choice in the settings. Every state has different laws regarding that. Right now, I have to add the discount in as an item so I can check the tax button. I'm in Nevada and tax is calculated on the discount price. Some states tax the full amount. In addition, tax is calculated differently depending on the type of discount or sale.

Anna Western SUBTOTAL BEFORE FEES, GRATUITY AND TAXES PLEASE!
Anna Western
Amanda Cartin thank you! So you mean that the tax would be applied to the subtotal + discount, correct?
Anna Western
Carly Held thank you! Interesting. But in both cases the discount is applied to the subtotal before taxes, and you're talking about the way taxes are applied afterward, whether to the original subtotal or the discounted subtotal, correct?
Anna Western
Graham Morris thank you!

Anna Western For most typical events (in Nevada) the tax is charged on the discounted subtotal. However, if a vendor is sponsoring something for the event and gives us a rebate of the full amount but we discounted it to the client we are paying the full tax amount, not the discounted. So, it is different for different situations. And all tax laws are state specific so that could be completely different somewhere else.

Please give us the option to make the discount a % of the overall cost of the event and not just a number

Please allow us to make the discount option a % of the overall cost of the event! This would be a helpful feature. Thank you!

Can the discount amount be a % of the sub totaled contract. It would be helpful if it would reduce the tax & tip off of the discounted amount.
